Do you offer private lessons?
Best thing is to fill out our private lesson waitlist form.   We offer/schedule these private lessons on a best-efforts basis but the availability is limited. If we can match your availability with that of our staff, we will reach out to you. These are then scheduled/ registered via Parks & Rec. The best way to get involved is to join our small group lesson program. Our ratios are consistently the lowest in the area for tennis and pickleball. We love the learning environment of the group class and we think you will too. What should I bring to my tennis or pickleball lesson?
Tennis racquets and pickleball paddles are NOT provided. If you need financial assistance with a racquet/paddle, contact your municipality and we will provide a loaner for you. Dress in comfortable workout clothes. Bring water or a sports drink on warm days. Court sneakers are important. Click here to see the difference between running shoes and court shoes.

What tennis racquet is right for me?
Racquet Sizing Guide for Juniors
(based on player height)*
Player height = Racquet length

  • under 3-1/2 feet = 19 inch racquet

  • under 4 feet = 21 inch racquet

  • under 4-1/2 feet = 23 inch racquet

  • under 5 feet = 25 or 26 inch racquet

  • 5 feet or taller = 27 inch (full length) racquet

*19 to 25 inch aluminum starter racquets are approximately $30 while 26 inch racquets are more $60-$100 range because these are composite frames and begin the transition to adult frames. Players 5 ft and taller should play with 27 inch adult frames.

Racquet tips for Adults

  • Appropriate grip size

  • Appropriate racquet head size for your level of play

  • Old racquets and discount racquets may limit performance and progress

  • An investment in a composite racquet will serve you well over time

What pickleball paddle is right for me?
Beginner paddles should be comfortable to hold and be light to medium weight. The paddle you choose should offer the balance between power and control. The more experience you have, the more power you want in your paddle selection. Also, only certain paddles are “certified” for tournament play. If your goal is to play tournaments, make sure yours is certified!

How do we know if class is canceled due to bad weather?
Classes may be canceled due to rain/wet courts, thunder/lightning (automatic 30-minute delay) or “feels like” temperatures below 40 degrees or 100 degrees or higher. There are no makeups for canceled classes.

How you will be notified of a weather cancellation: Students will be contacted directly by coaches when a class is canceled via text (preferred) or by phone if text isn’t available.  Please make sure your preferred household contact information, particularly cell phone, is updated at your parks & recreation household account.

Please do not contact the coach or parks & recreation staff about the status of your class. We closely monitor weather conditions and make every effort to play. There is no set time for a cancellation decision.

Will there be make-up classes if we get canceled?
We use all the possible days allotted to schedule classes so we cannot make up classes at the “end of the season.” You will receive a credit/refund for any missed classes. Canceled classes will have tuition credited/refunded 2-3 weeks AFTER the last class end of the session. Please allow time for the municipality to issue credits.

Students may not make-up classes at another day/time during the week for any reason.

How come you don’t tell who our coach is before the season starts?
We love our all our coaches, and we think we have the best coaching staff in the area! Most of our coaches work part-time with us so we must be as flexible as possible with their schedules. We love all feedback on our coaches. If you have something great to say (or some area we need to improve), let us know.

Do all court locations have restrooms?
Restrooms may not be available near the tennis court. Please plan accordingly.

How do I drop off/pick up my tennis/pickleball player?
It is important that all parents/guardians drop their student off at the court. Students dropped off early cannot always be monitored by coaches. In addition, please pick up students promptly when class ends. The coach needs to see you. Please wait outside the fence and the instructor will make sure you are paired up with your tennis/pickleball player. Please do not wait in the parking lot or park.
